A lot of properties around the Goldfields sit outside areas with solid fixed-line NBN, and have historically relied on older satellite services for internet. What actually affects performance
Wherever you are, a handful of factors determine how well Starlink works on your property:
- A clear view of the sky. Starlink needs an unobstructed view in the direction it points, so trees, roof lines, sheds and other buildings nearby can all get in the way.
- Where the dish is mounted.A spot that looks clear from the ground can still have obstructions once you check with Starlink's own app.
- Network congestion. Like any internet service, performance can dip at busier times of day depending on how many people nearby are using the same satellites.
- Weather.Heavy rain or dust can occasionally cause brief drop-outs, though this generally isn't a major issue.
